Hitofude is an interesting cardigan sweater that is knit in one "brushstroke" -- it's been on my list for a while, and I bought the yarn last year at Stitches West, and Judy is hosting a knit-along -- so I decided to jump in.

The photo doesn't look like much, but this is actually the whole top of the sweater (neck, shoulders & sleeves) and the top of the back & front.  It's lace -- so it will look all scrunched up until it's finished and blocked.

Linking up with Judy's "what's on your needles" post.   I also have a pair of socks going, but that will be another post...

Knitted Things

It's February, so that means birthday sweaters for the grand niece & nephew -- they're 4 this year!  (Easy to remember, since they were born on my birthday, and it was a round number that year)

First up is Bane's Skull & Crossbones sweater.  He's usually ambivalent about the sweaters I make, but this one was definitely a hit!  Pattern is on Ravelry here.

Mia was not as thrilled this year -- she put the sweater on and said "it's too big" and immediately wanted it off!  Actually, I think it's pretty much a perfect fit...  but she's 4.  The pattern is called Skinny Cotton Pullover, and it was quick and easy construction.

And -- a bit of background for this one.  My sister lives in Tasmania and raises pigs, among other things.  So when I saw this kit at Morehouse Farms for an Oink Scarf, I had to make it as a gift for her!  The 300 rounds of stockinette were boring, but I love the details --

I'm off to Empty Spools soon for a workshop with Susan Carlson and some sea air...

Scrappy Saturday - Brown Edition

I'll get to brown, but first let me finish up BLUE. I showed the first two Fancy Forest blocks, and then I made one more -- a firefly.  And then I found a pattern on the Robert Kaufman site that uses 3" strips, so I raided my box of 3" scraps and made a bunch of Prismatic Echoes blocks.  They were a very good antidote to the concentration needed for the Forest blocks!

But now it's February and the color is BROWN at the rainbow scrap challenge. I whipped up 3 new blocks for the Forest:

I'm not super fond of the bunny...  my forest may end up with only one of them.  Love the fox, though, and the thistles might be my favorites!
