progress, or lack of it

Move along, folks -- nothing to see here...

I signed up for Judy L's monthly UFO challenge, but haven't managed to finish anything yet!  I AM working on quilting January's challenge quilt, and it MIGHT actually get finished in the next week, but don't hold your breath.

And here it is, almost March already.  March's project is one I'm ambivalent about, so it may just end up in the "donate to the guild" bag. It's a bunch of wonky stocking blocks from a Mary Weidman swap; I didn't enjoy making the blocks and I'm not excited about figuring out how to assemble them.  Definitely one of those "why did I do this?" projects! Can't remember if I ever posted a photo of them, so I'll slap 'em up on the wall and do that later today.

baby surprises

The twins are 10 days old now, still in NICU but everything seems to be improving daily.  The word is, they'll stay there for another month...
This is a picture my sister (Granny) took of them -- the first time they were sleeping together instead of in separate "bunks".  I don't know who knit those hats, but I think they'll take a while to grow into.

These sweaters will also take a while! They're the two Baby Surprise Jackets I finished up tonight, from Elizabeth Zimmermann's classic pattern. The second one definitely came out better than the first (it's a very strange pattern) but they were fun to do and I can see this becoming a go-to pattern.

Green Day

This month's rainbow scraps are green, and I've made my two projects -- the "knot my block" for a rainbow quilt:
and the big "boxed in" baby quilt -- this measures 36" x 45":
I participated again in a birthday block swap with a small yahoo group, and all of my blocks arrived -- it's the Rocky Mountain Puzzle in green and brown batiks, and I think the blocks are quite lovely!

I need to get to work on my Cotton Robin border now...

playing catch-up

Where did the last couple of weeks disappear to?  There's been very little sewing going on, that's for sure...

I did have a big "ends-in-0" birthday this week, with a party on Sunday.  Even better though, was that my oldest nephew and his wife had twins on my birthday!  A girl & a boy (Mia and Bane) -- and I'll always know exactly how old they are!  They were a little early, but doing well, and will be in NICU for a while.

There are a couple of baby sweaters in the works but I expect to have them done before the babies are ready to come home.  My sister is deluging them with quilts so I decided to hold off on that until hers get used a bit.

More productive news from the sewing room soon, I hope!
