my celestine

Otherwise known as a totally frivolous bit of knitting...
but when I saw this somewhere last week (was it on Knitty?) I had to drop everything else and make one! It's a stellated dodecahedron, which means 12 points. I used some funky variegated acrylic yarn that was in my stash for some reason, which was a bit heavier than the sock yarn in the free pattern. I have no idea what I'll do with this, or why on earth I HAD to make one, but I'm pretty happy with it!

That is totally cool!!! I can see why you had to make one.

I agree. My hubby and I have a silly ball with a face on it that we hide somewhere that the other one will find (eventually), like in a pocket or the back of a drawer and so on. We've been doing this for years. Your creation (if it isn't too large) looks like a candidate for a game of some sort!

I love it and having seen it, I may well have to drop everything else and try one myself ;-)

I'm also thinking that a half-dodecahedron with some ribbing around the open edge might make an interesting (if a little goofy) ski cap . . .

it's colorful and cute so does it have to have any other purpose?

Wow! That doesn't look easy to knit, but it's gorgeous! How long did it take?

I saw the pattern for this too, and had the same reaction, although I haven't made one yet! For the life of me I can't figure out what I'd do with it, but it looks really neat.

That is way cute Julie!!! I'm not a knitter or crocheter so I'm not going to be making that anytime soon but it sure is cute!!
Happy Holidays to you and yours...

If I could knit, I'd have dropped everything to make one of these, too, as it's totally cool. And if you are stuck for something to do with it, well, I'm sure I could come up with a suggestion. You have my address... :)

Happy New Year!

(And, just because it amuses me, I have to tell you my word verification word is "emouse"!)
